So you might have some questions. What is this? How is this? Why is this? So let’s answer those!
What is this?
This is a silly little game that I created! It’s called Alex Clash and it is essentially like rock-paper-scissors. Here, attacking beats sneaking, sneaking beats defending, and defending beats attacking. It’s a very simple concept dressed up with some silly images and sound design!
How is this?
I made this through a program called Scratch. Scratch was made to teach kids introductory coding concepts and, while I wouldn’t really consider myself a beginner to programming and game design, it was so super simple and quick to throw this together that I can definitely see myself exploring more game design concepts and ideas with Scratch. I’m hoping I’ll be able to have a whole library of small games on here for people to play!
Why is this?
Well, at my core, I just really want to tell stories. And while my comfort zone is telling these stories through words on a page (a.k.a. short stories and novels) I have a special interest in exploring my storytelling capabilities through games as well! Alex Clash isn’t exactly rife with lore or even great dialogue but it could be a small piece of gameplay that I expand on in the future. At the end of the day, this is all just for fun and Alex Clash was a great little game for me to practise some core game design concepts.
That’s all I really have for you this week but I hope you enjoy playing Alex Clash! (It’s very simple I know and once you figure it out, it’s a little boring but still! I gotta give myself some credit for actually managing to finish a project that I started, haha!)
And don’t you worry, pals, Alex Clash 2 is already in the works. B)
